A note from Mrs. Chern…. Quarter 1 is officially complete! There have been some changes
with PowerSchools again so the last I heard report cards will go home Oct. 11. I will keep you
posted. We have our 1st field trip coming up this Friday. We are headed to Marbles Museum.
Please check Wednesday Folders for a reminder about the lunch option you chose for you.
I have their T-shirts so we will be ready to go.
Upcoming Week’s Standards…
Reading: Fiction retelling (characters, setting, events) and how illustrations help tell a story
Writing: Publishing and Launch of Opinion Writing (read mentor texts and find opinions and
reasons in them)
Spelling: Unit 10
Math: Words Problems with comparing and finding the difference between numbers
Science: Start Earth and the Universe. Pre ASsessment, what is the difference between and day and night sky?
… There is a passage again with two questions. Please remember to practice
reading the passage every night to improve fluency. The children will practice missing addend
word problems and can choose whatever strategy makes sense to them. The second page is a
review of the “Think Addition Strategy”. Have your child write what they did first, next, then
and last to complete the problem. Also, look for Readvolution information to come home. I have to type up the usernames and passwords for all the students before you can begin.
