notebook icon.jpgA note from Mrs. Chern…. What an amazing week. We finished our community, went on a
field trip, got our Donors Choose funded, received our Donors Choose games and did a Breakout
box. We got a lot done!  The kids want to publish our next piece of writing with paper and want to
have hard book covers. If you could please send in any used cereal boxes we would appreciate it. We
are going to cover them to make book covers.
notebook icon.jpgUpcoming Week’s Standards…
Reading: Spot and Dot strategy to decode, feature of non-fiction texts
Writing: adding dialogue and details to narrative writing, revising, editing

This week week’s character trait is HUMOR. Click here to learn more. This week’s
challenge is - Think of someone who makes you laugh. What do they do that is funny?

There is a reading passage and questions. Remember Monday (read),
Tuesday (read and question 1), Wednesday (read), Thursday (read and question 2). Fluency is
key. For Math there are two sets of word problems practicing different strategies.. Number
lines and Quick Tens and Ones are the most efficient strategies. We are not using 10 Frames
because it takes so long to draw them. Please let your child choose between Number Lines or
Tens and Ones.

I hope you all have leprechaun traps at home since it falls on a Sunday this year.

notebook icon.jpgA note from Mrs. Chern…. Thank you to everyone. All the kids participated in dressing up at
Dr. Suess characters and we had a blast. We shared stories, listened to stories, sang our favorite
birthday song and had a special treat. The kids have been an A-MAZ-ING team since we tracked
back in. Today we celebrate 10’s in specials 10 days in a row. WOW! For that we voted and we are
going to paint with marbles next week. We also earned 10 BEARS Tickets as a class. WON-DER-
FUL. For that we voted and we will have popcorn and a “movie” next week as well. They are really
on a roll. We are still working on our research and All About books for our community. This time we
will publish using Google Slides. The kids can’t wait. Once they complete their “education” (Ie, their
All About slide show) their payment will be a house and they can start construction on their place of
work for our community. We should be able to finish this up by next week.
