My name is Krista Chern and I am a 1st grade track 3 teacher. I was born in New York but grew up in sunny Miami, Florida. I graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Early Childhood Education. I taught in Hollywood, Florida for 3 years where I became ESL certified. I have been teaching in Wake County for 24 years. In 2002 I became Nationally Board Certified, which was an amazing experience.
My husband, Jason, and I moved here to Raleigh 23 years ago and love our home in Durant Trails. We have two amazing children. Karson is 21 and will begin her senior year at UNCW, NC. Jake is 15 and will be a junior at Millbrook High School. We have two cats that we rescued 10 years ago named Jango and Harmony. We then rescued a dog named Mia 7 years ago. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, cooking, and being with my fantastically funny family!
I am very excited to be beginning my seventh year here at Brassfield Elementary. It is an amazing school. I love teaching and I am a lifelong learner. I strive to pass my passion and love for learning on to my students.
