It's almost Groundhog Day...

February 2nd is... Groundhog Day. This is the day that the most famous groundhog in the country, Punxsutawney Phil, will predict the weather. Right here in Raleigh we have our own famous groundhog named Sir Walter Wally who will predict the weather. The Shadow Ceremony takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Bicentennial Plaza, right in front of the Museum of Natural Sciences. Click here to learn more about the festivities right here in Raleigh.

I want to know what you think. Will Sir Walter Wally see his shadow?

Use this information to make your prediction.

First, learn some facts about Groundhog's Day and groundhogs.

Now, take a look at the weather forecast.

  1. I think it is pretty amazing that their burrows are 5 to 6 cars long underground! Wow! That is unbelievable.
