A note from Mrs. Chern…. I hope everyone had a wonderful track out. Happy Mother’s Day!

The kids made you a special gift. If they didn’t already give it to them remind them to on Sunday. It’s

been a while and they may not remember where they “hid” it from you. We have 7 weeks left of 1st

grade. Let’s make them amazing.

So far, 7 families have signed up for Spring Student Led Conferences. The kids work really hard to get things to together to share with you what they are learning in school. Plenty of slots left. Click HERE to get to the Sign Up Genius at Brassfield Elem. If you need a time at Green Road Library let me know and I will let you know which slots are left.

Upcoming Week’s Standards…

Reading: Reading with fluency, accuracy, rate and expression, self correcting, retelling stories,

comparing characters/adventures in stories

Writing: Author’s Choice (narrative, informational, opinion), what do you need to include which

each type of writing

Spelling: Unit 28

Math: Partitioning shapes into halves and quarters

Social Studies:: How do humans change the environment? How can we help the environment?

This week week’s character trait is LEADERSHIP. Click here to learn more. This week’s

challenge is - Be a role model for others around you. Tell your teacher about what leadership skills you

need to be a role model.

…  There is a reading passage and questions. Remember Monday (read),

Tuesday (read and question 1), Wednesday (read), Thursday (read and question 2). Fluency is

key. It is a MAJOR part of this reading unit.  For Math there is one sheet for math reviewing

shapes.

• May 27th: No School Memorial Day!
• May 20-23 Student Led Conferences
• May 23 McTeacher Night: I will be there from 5:00-6:00 Hope to see you there
• May 22nd Conferences at Green Road Library from 5:00-7:15
• May 31 Volunteer Luncheon and Spring Carnival: I will be doing the Nose Picking Game from 5:45-7:00 and the Dunk Booth from 7:30-8:00. Hope to see you there.
